Akron Children's Hospital - Career Launch Program - University of Akron Association
Video Transcript
My name is Ashley, and I am part of the Career Launch program at Akron Children's Hospital. I am currently getting my associate's degree in nursing at The University of Akron. I have had such a great experience with Career Launch and the amazing things that they have done for me so far and to come in the future. They completely are paying for my tuition, paying for my books, anything supply-wise that I need, they're paying for it. Scrubs, shoes, even if I would need childcare for my own personal kids, they would pay that as well. So it's been an amazing experience, and I'm excited to be able to work for Children's after I graduate, and I hope that you join us as well.
Akron Children's Hospital - Pediatric Endocrinologist
Video Transcript
Hello, I am Naveen Uli. I'm the division director for the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology here at Akron Children's Hospital. And to tell you why you would come here, I think I should tell you why I came here three years ago. Although Akron Children's does not have a big brand name recognition, it's a little gem on its own, which I realized after I came here, because I was in a major institution right next door. But what makes Akron Children's special is the collegiality and the teamwork that all the people in this department show. So we are, right now, a total of 16 providers with 17 nurses, two dieticians, a social worker, and a phenomenal office staff. And the way our setup of the office and the clinic space is, it allows the providers to work with each other and discuss challenging cases with each other because our workspace brings us together. And we are surrounded by the patient room, so we are in a common space and allows us to have a discussion during our regular workday. And endocrinology, of course, encompasses a variety of organ systems, and we overlap nicely with general pediatrics. But what makes Akron Children's special is the fact that Akron Children's as an institution invests in its community, and so we have a lot of services available to us that might not be available at other major institutions. For example, the school nursing staff in a variety of school districts are actually the employees of Akron Children's itself, and they have access to our EMR, so the care of children with diabetes is very seamless throughout their day. So that makes it much better for the families and the children. In addition, we as a group are really very collegial, and we like to work with each other. And that's what brought me here, that's what keeps me here, and I hope that will be attractive enough to you for

Akron Children's Hospital - Staff Nurse - Resource Pool II
Video Transcript
Hello. My name is Jason. I've been part of the float pool for nine years. I'm not going anywhere. I love it, and there's many reasons that I love it. One of the main reasons is the staff, the supervisors, the educators, they're all here to advocate for you, to inspire you, to train you, to help you to be the best nurse possible. And along with that, we float to every unit, every department, every diagnosis, every age, you name it, and we are there to grow in these skills, and they are so happy to see us because we're coming there to help fill a void that's happening. And along with that, what I love is that I am inspired and motivated to grow in my critical thinking skills, my nursing skills. So again, I can bring about the best quality care possible, along with reaching as many lives and families as I can. So again, I only have so much time here, but if you want to learn more, which there's so much more, come and see for yourself. Have a great day.
